About Me
Julia von Flotow offers life coaching, healing and event consulting services through KAIZEN Lifestyle Management. Kai Zen, Japanese for continuous improvement captures the spirit in which Julia helps individuals and organizations realize sustainable success.
Artistic and executive director in the cultural sector in Toronto, Ontario, since 1979, Julia has led Canada’s only puppet centre; produced theatre and over 12 festivals and events since 1991, including an International Children’s Festival and Guiding Mosaic 2006, an international camp for 3000 participants for Girl Guides of Canada. Recognizing the power of celebration as an engagement strategy, she founded and led Festive Earth Society, a non-profit environmental organization from 1998 to 2002. Trained at the University of Windsor’s School of Dramatic Arts, Julia started her career as theatre artist, director, workshop facilitator and acting coach.
Julia is certified as reflexologist, reiki master, therapeutic touch and zenith omega practitioner and expects to receive her Life Coach Certification from the International Coach Academy and be accredited by the International Coach Federation by the Spring of 2008. She provides event consulting services to the Women’s Health Matters Forum & Expo, www.womenshealthmatters.ca, January 18 & 19, 2008. This annual Women College Hospital event provides current facts, fresh perspectives and new information on hot issues in the ever-changing women’s health environment.
Julia is passionate about helping people create balance, beauty and harmony in their lives to enable them to realize and enjoy the life they want. She brings her training in project management, experience with organizational leadership and event planning to her coaching practice. Daily meditation, a healing practice, an urban garden and weekly tango dancing with Ken, husband of 28 years, has helped her establish a new work life balance.
As a life coach, Julia creates an open and safe environment helping clients de-stress and restore balance, clarify dreams and desires to align their goals and values. She helps individuals gain perspective, develop strategies and action plans to achieve their goals.
I’m inspired by the concept that, much like events, we design and co-create our lives… our imagination plays such a significant role in helping us dream and envision our future…the dynamic play between this vision of what can be and what is…excites me…so filled with limitless possibilities. Coaching can bring the possible into reality.
When I see my life as a series of events, I recognize the many milestones I’ve reached as powerful personal change markers – joyous points of reference along life’s journey. Celebrating these milestones energizes me. I draw strength from my loving and supportive family and friends and enjoy watching my three adult children, Kaspar, Melina & Hanna, actively pursue their life dreams.
To restore my own personal order, I find solace and peace in nature, retreating daily to my garden or for longer stints to our cabin on a small northern Ontario lake far from telephone, computer and all the comforts of urban living.
